<h2><strong>History of banana</strong></h2>
<p>More than a plant, the banana is a real slice of history. The banana was indeed the first human food culture, dating back more than 12000 years ago!</p>
<p>This ancient fruit, widely distributed around the world, however, was known to Europeans at the end of the fifteenth century in the West Indies. The banana was indeed consumed locally, cultivated only for domestic use.</p>
<p>It was not until the nineteenth century that Europe could experience the flavor of this exotic fruit. Commercial distribution of the banana began in Florida between 1865 and 1870. Two companies multiplied the banana plantations in Central America and built ships for the distribution of the banana harvest on the other side of the Atlantic.</p>
<h2><strong>What&#8217;s in the banana?</strong></h2>
<p>Bananas offer particularly high carbohydrate content. They constitute the essential of its energy supply.</p>
<p>The protein rate remains low, but slightly higher than other fruits. The lipids are present only in trace amounts, but play an important role in the flavor and fragrance of her flesh.</p>
<p>Well endowed with B vitamins (especially B6) and vitamin C, bananas also contain a significant amount of minerals: potassium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus and iron.</p>
<p>Its fibers are abundantly spread between cellulosic substance (accelerated intestinal transit) and pectic substances (which are involved in the transit regulation), which explains the absence of irritation to the intestines.</p>
<h2><strong>Benefits of bananas for the health</strong></h2>
<p>Thanks to its fiber and antioxidants, the banana helps lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity and some cancers.</p>
<p>Besides, a study assessed the impact of the consumption of white fruits. It showed that the incidence of stroke was 52 % lower for people often eating bananas.</p>
<p>Bananas are available all year on the stalls. The biggest producer countries are located around the world (India, Brazil, the Philippines, Ecuador and Indonesia), providing uninterrupted production.</p>
