<h2><strong>History of raisins</strong></h2>
<p>The raisin is probably one of the oldest fruits: the discovery of wild varieties of wine grape seed in prehistoric sites indicates that these clusters were appreciated by the early Neolithic farmers.</p>
<p>Currently, the raisin is the most cultivated fruit in the world after the oranges. There are many varieties, both white and red.</p>
<h2><strong>Health benefits</strong></h2>
<p>In grapes, almost all the polyphenols are concentrated in the skin and seeds. These substances are particularly useful due to their antioxidant properties. By reducing the oxidation of &#8220;bad&#8221; cholesterol, they prevent the development of atherosclerosis. But their protective effects against cardiovascular diseases are also explained by the fact that they inhibit platelet aggregation and therefore limit the risk of clots that can block an artery. In addition, they have anti-inflammatory activity.</p>
<p>In red winemaking, specifically during the maceration, the fact that the skins and seeds remain in contact with the juice allows the extraction of the most beneficial components of the grape. This is not the case in the production of white wine or juice of the fruit. The antioxidant properties of red wine (consumed in moderation) are mainly due to polyphenols. In the Toulouse region, French researchers have identified the famous &#8220;French paradox&#8221;, twenty years ago. They showed that, despite a high intake of saturated fat, the inhabitants of this city had a low death rate from coronary heart disease due to their habit of drinking wine regularly.</p>
<p>Moreover, polyphenols can delay the effects of aging and even prevent certain cancers. Fructose and various fibers make it a little laxative grape. Finally, its content of minerals as well as vitamins A and B actually makes raisin a complete fruit.</p>
